The Green Papers That Run our Lives

I just finished a contemplation on my views of money. I acknowledge that I have some limiting beliefs about money, as many of us do.  I have tended to avoid money in recent weeks in developing my business, but as in everything, the universe has given put some new information about money and abundance in my worldview for a reason.

My grandfather once told me several years before he passed away.. "Don't forget this:  money controls everything."  I was shocked and sad to hear that.. but I have come to acknowledge its truth.  So many people spend so much time working to make money, which provides basic things like food, clothing, housing, child care.  However, I believe that he was speaking about our modern society and how we have simply let money control us.  Our entire lives.. so many of us feel like we do not have a choice in it all and are essentially slaves to money.  We have to work to make money, we can't go there because of money, we have to buy this not that because of money.  We are limiting ourselves like crazy due to these limiting (but totally normal!) beliefs.  But money is an exchange of something we value.  So let's start there.. thinking about what we value and how much we value it. As with this all... it comes down to how it makes us FEEL.  We value what makes us feel GOOD.  Okay.  With that, we can start to see that.. there IS another way.  It will take some effort to get there though.. we will need to shift our mindset and subconscious, deep-seated beliefs to do so... I haven't quite figured out how to do it all myself yet, but I feel it coming. A new way of doing things, another way of being.  To find happiness and freedom, because isn't that what we all want as humans?

Kate Northrup talks about creating passive or residual income... creating something (inventing something, writing a book, making a CD, buying real estate, etc) that we only do ONCE and then make the profits from over and over. Then you are free to go to the gym, read, bake bread, do yoga, or do whatever all day long!  What holds many of us back from achieving this is our belief that WE can't do this thing.  Or we spend our valuable time on things that don't get us to where we want.  There are people (not just celebrities but people like you and me) out there, around us here, who have done just this - created freedom and time by learning, spending their time strategically, and acting decisively.  For we can spend lots of time visualizing but of course, we need to ACT on that to achieve our hopes and dreams. And you can too.

So don't worry.  You can have a lot of money and still be a good person make a difference in the world - by putting your money in places that will help change the world (Bill Gates is doing just this) - you aren't just hoarding it.  You will be in the flow that the universe wants you to be in!

In abundance and gratitude,

Rachel

Politics and Gravitational Waves

I don't follow the media much anymore, nearly as much as I used to. It is hard to see all the suffering humans inflict on one another so needlessly, and how the media likes to cover this news over and over again, creating and spreading fear. There are many good things happening out there.. but good news doesn't cater to the masses, does it? Back to my original point.. I don't follow the media, but I do try to catch it here and there to see what the Presidential candidates are up to.  Now, before you start to worry that I'm going get all political here, I merely have some observations (no political opinions, for once).  My observations are that the American people are HUNGRY for a change.  They are tired of the system that is failing so many of us, tired of the rich running the country and world, tired of being lied to.  While experience matters to some, it actually doesn't matter to many.  What does matter is speaking the truth that many are afraid to say, speaking the realities that so many live.  The Donald is speaking about change, Bernie is speaking about change. Different kinds of change, mind you.  One based on fear and blame, the other based on revolution and empowerment.

You may wonder, how does this connect to the original title here about the discovery of gravitational waves?  Well.. I believe that the Universe, AKA the invisible forces/beings that are behind much of our experience, had something to do with the timing of this information/discovery being released.  We are now ready to do something with this information as a human race.  We are ready to start to understand that there are forces beyond our knowing that affect our everyday lives.  Just as the force of gravity is real, so is the force of attraction through frequencies and vibrations of those frequencies being drawn to each other. And our thoughts and emotions, as energy, emit frequencies.  And the fact that these frequencies are attracting like frequencies means that our positive thinking and feelings bring about positive, and so forth.  With a caveat:  our higher selves and guides also have a plan for our lives: while we may try to "attract" certain things, we must understand that events we do not always understand will still happen in our lives for reasons that we will later understand.  We come to this life with a blueprint, a plan.. all for the purpose of us learning some lessons for the evolution of our soul.  So the events in our life follow that plan. Free will is involved too, yes, and we can deviate from that plan.  If we deviate, then chances are our next life will have a similar plan, since we may not have learned our lessons here.

A long digression from politics and gravitational waves.  My point here is that people are READY, ready for change - it's in the air all around us.  This shows by the outpouring of energy around who we as Americans want to lead our country (and the world effectively). These are the forces of us waking up in 2016.. waking up to a new way of being.  We are evolving, you see, although not all of us will choose to do so. And sometimes it has to get worse before it gets better (climate change as an example). People who have been suffering without end (in the workplace especially, which is my new business's focus!) are starting to look to a power beyond themselves for help.  So there is hope.

With so many of us longing for something better, and taking steps towards that something, there is hope.

Waking Up in 2016

There is something about 2016 so far.  I've noticed it, at least.  Have you? People are starting to wake up to what they really want.  People are starting to be less afraid (I'm one of them) to show their true selves, to expose what they really believe in.  And this has to do with our innate beings.. who were are at the core. Yes, folks, we all, every single human being from Donald Trump to Rush Limbaugh, have spirits within us. Souls. And I imagine that we might want to get more in touch with those? Looking around at our planet, there is much to feel disheartened about.  The oddly-warm days in January in Maine are wake-up calls.  You can say it's "El Nino" all you want, but we know that, really, it's climate change, folks.  And apparently we are going to be experiencing it big-time over here on the East Coast.

We need to wake up.  It's time we start caring about what really matters. It's not the job, the money, the big house, the good school, the new clothes, the new phone, whatever. It's love, relationships, caring, helping, giving, kindness, compassion, creativity, joy, friendship, music, art, peace.  These are the timeless qualities that stay with us throughout our many lifetimes and in our souls.

I woke up to what I had been doing to myself in my job(s)... creating a pattern of discontentment and attracting more of that to me through my frustrations with the modern, hierarchical workplace. Don't get me wrong, I'm not fully just blaming myself here, since there are fundamental problems with the industrialized system that still dominates many versions of the modern workplace. I realized that change needed to come from within myself. And then that could spread to others... spread like a sunrise over the land, energetically.

If you can identify with that feeling, if you feel a nagging discontent each day, like there is something missing in your job or career... it's time to start paying attention to that feeling.  Because it's not going to go away. In fact, it's going to get stronger until you (we all) do something about it.

Do you remember the days (well probably not since none of us were born yet) when people had their own shops - the butcher, the tailor, the blacksmith, the printer, the farmer?  Everyone did their own thing, maybe they employed someone else, yes, but on the whole people controlled their own livelihood.  There were no giant butcher shops or mega-tailor companies with large top-down hierarchies. These were creations in the industrial economy to produce faster and better.  Do you think the idea was to enrich the lives of the workers?  Um, no, it was to make money.  Fortunately, the old, bureaucratic way of doing work is becoming more and more obsolete (although still some way to go). Some innovative companies these days have started making changes and are realizing that many of their employees are suffering.. needlessly.  The most forward-thinking companies/organizations are taking steps to help the well-being of their staff (which thereby increases retention and productivity!).  Let's hope that continues to spread.

I'm hoping to shed light on an idea here: that it is possible to find true happiness by transforming either the job you currently do - or a job you create for yourself - into something you WANT to do and thoroughly enjoy.  Ask me about how, if you like (I'm starting a new business called Soulful Work).  But there are lots of people out there who can also help you.  It's okay to ask for help - it can provide an idea you hadn't thought of before. Lots of ideas in fact.  I had to ask for help, many times, and started looking for books and videos to learn new ideas, and I started to wake up ...  As you are too if you're interested in even reading this blog!

There is hope for our country. There are good, smart, well-meaning people like you who want to make a change.  We just have to have the courage, the boldness, to step into the fear and walk towards a new possibility.
