The Courage to Evolve

The energy right now is that of a pulling in, a going inward. This is partially due to Mercury retrograde and largely due to the seismic energetic shift in consciousness and collective awakening happening all over the planet.

We are being confronted with our shadows. We are being asked to make choices. And our choices matter. Do we choose to look at our phones or spend time with our children? Do we pick up a piece of trash on the ground, or walk on by, assuming that it’s not our problem? Do we smile or offer a kind word or gesture, to the homeless person we pass by on the street, or do we walk on by, pretending not to see them?

Yes, these small moments do matter. Even if it seems that no one is looking (our souls are).

What will you choose? Will you listen to your inner voice nudging you to live how you long to live? Or will you give in to fear and worry about being different/ crazy/weird/alone/penniless? We are facing our deepest fears and we are being asked to confront them once and for all. It’s time to release them so we can fully expand into who we really are. Our souls are longing to come out and be free.

Oh, yes, it is like peeling back the layers of an onion, working through years of programming and conditioning at the hands of institutions trying to keep us feeling small, afraid and completely oblivious to our incredible, magical powers (like healing the sick by just sending light to someone suffering - like Jesus or any other mystical healer).

No one said this would be easy. Even though our natural state as humans is joy, it’s not supposed to be easy all the time. (Remember, we set this up for ourselves as part of our soul contracts.) Otherwise, how would we grow? After all, our mission with each subsequent lifetime is to improve, to evolve.

So what will it be? It takes courage. It takes a lot of courage. I consider myself to be a pretty brave person, but I have been confronting my shadow sides too, and it takes a lot of inner discipline, faith, patience and trust in my higher guidance (I’ve been spending time in the Akashic Records).

Here are a few things that might help you in your release and expansion. Some of them may surprise you.

1)    Stop trying so much. Yes, that’s right. Just for a while. Just allow yourself to be present and stop trying. Enjoy the feeling of the sun on your face. Spend time with those you love (children and animals are especially wonderful). Yes, do visualize what you want your life to be like. Write it down. But then forget about it. Trying too hard to make something happen is based in a state of lack. And that vibration of lack cannot align with a vibration of plenty. It’s about, of course, raising your vibration, but it’s not about to be trying to live for the future all of the time, as if you’re not perfect just as you are (because you are perfect! You’re always expanding, just like the universe, but you’re also perfect). So just relax and live.

2)    Get information. Gather resources (videos, articles, websites) to help you understand what is happening to the Earth, to us humans and to you in your life. It will trigger something within you that already knows. You will remember what you have forgotten upon incarnation in your human body. This includes learning about truth and the reality that we have been living in for thousands of years. But be discerning in what you find on the internet. Many websites are based in fear, and if an article/site causes fear, it is not based in love and is not for your highest good. Find resources that resonate with you and uplift you, and that you can digest (even though it may be difficult to grasp and fully absorb as much of the information that is shocking … beyond what you have ever experienced before).

3)    Process your emotions. Once we really see what’s been done to us, it is very easy to get angry. And to go through the stages of grief, really. Denial, anger, bargaining are three that many people are going through. Hopefully depression is a temporary phase. I have noticed that sometimes people who awaken can get stuck in one phase, like anger, or maybe depression. So talk about it, move your body, scream/run/write/sing whatever it is that feels like you can express, release and hopefully move on from the emotion. Eventually, you might just reach acceptance.

4)    Develop your intuitive gifts, which we all have. By tapping into your intuition, and to the spirit realm, you will receive a level of guidance, support, encouragement and helpful information for any area of your life. Like having your own personal team of coaches/therapists/best friends at your disposal whenever you need them! I personally love angels, since they are pure love, connected directly to the highest Source of love that there is (God or whatever term you choose). And they protect me from any negative, lower energies (hence why I am writing these words now to you). And the realm of Spirit is already speaking to you anyway – it’s that quiet whisper nudging you to do good. When you begin to hone that ability to hear, listen to and trust your support team, your life will unfold. They so badly want to connect with us, we just need to hone our ability to hear/see/understand them, and then just ask for their help! You can do this by simply imagining light in your heart, like a glowing ball, every day, and expanding that light from the top of your head into the Earth, a pillar of light. This light carries healing, and it carries information (downloads of Divine universal knowledge – where else do you think I get my ideas?).

5)    And then actually listen to and trust your intuition.  This is easier said that done. Believe me, I have spent lots of time trying to get answers from someone else. And sometimes it really helped. But after getting lots of psychic readings and personal coaching, I realized that I was seeking confirmation of what I already know. It’s just that I wasn’t trusting my intuition. Now I am and I am listening to their advice and guidance. And often that advice is completely opposite from what the “experts” tell me to do. Deep down, we all know better what is right for us than anyone else can.

It’s a strange and wonderful time to be alive. It’s incredibly exciting to think what the world will be like for our children. Yes, there will be some who choose a path of fear, and to them the reality may look no different than it does now. But for others, who choose a path of courage, their reality will be one of freedom. Freedom from limitations, freedom from confining patterns, freedom from damaging thoughts and emotions and freedom to expand, heal, love and share. It truly is a time unlike any other. Step into the flow, and experience the magic!

It's Getting Interesting...

It’s getting interesting, isn’t it? The energy in the air these days is a bit tense. Mercury goes into retrograde on December 3rd, and it’s going to be a big month filled with shifting and moving of energy.

In this time, be sure to communicate clearly and compassionately with others... it's best to avoid making assumptions and allowing ourselves to get triggered... assume the best of intentions, come back to your breath, and remember that we're all in this together.

Things can get sticky otherwise. Having heart-to-heart, open conversations can assuage any awkwardness or hurt feelings. Feel this energy, come to light in your heart, and connect with the heart of the person you're communicating with.

The good news is that in this time, what’s “stuck” can get unstuck. So seize that energy! Follow the urge to get started on that project you’ve been putting off! Take care of anything that has been nudging you for a while, start learning something new. Go inward and go deep.

We are being called upon, yes we all, to begin to shed the layers of subconscious, limiting beliefs of the negative Ego self. It is not always pretty or fun. But it is how we will begin to understand how connected we all are. In spite of what the mainstream media might tell us, we live in a world filled with loving, kind and compassionate people who want to do the best thing. It’s just that we don’t all know how.

mercury-retrograde-2014 2.jpg

It’s not your fault. We have all been programmed (I know that’s kind of a scary word, but it helps to understand the depth of what we’re going through) for a long time. It often starts with usually our parents, sharing what they were taught (as well-intentioned they may have been) with us as children, by mainstream media and with the pressure to “consume, be afraid and stay angry at each other,” and continues with traditional public schooling. Thankfully, with many teachers (bless them!!) and even some administrators doing their best to make change, and with parents exposing their children to more nature-based, experiential learning and limiting TV/screen time, this is changing. And I believe that it will continue to change. But we are not there yet.

It is up to you. And me, and all of us. We must continue to re-train ourselves how to do this. We have never been taught how powerful we are. We have more healing and magical abilities than we can possibly imagine. The gifts of Jesus, Buddha, Yoginanda and others are accessible to us all. But we have never been taught this in any traditional school, in fact it may have been hidden from us.

We can learn to activate ourselves, activate the light within our hearts and spread this to others around us. We can learn more about how our brain works so that the left and right brains, the Ego and the Higher selves, can more fully work together so we can be spiritual in a practical world (I’m going to be integrating hypnotherapy and guided imagery into more meditationsfree meditations bi-monthly on Monday mornings - and workshops).

And we must understand that we will need to deal with our shadow sides, with our pain, to more fully expand in our consciousness and heal our world. This might come from trauma or learned experiences in this lifetime, or even from past lifetimes (stay tuned for free Akashic Records readings I’ll be offering next year).

For me personally, I find that the only way I can get through this time is to work with light. Yes, light. Sounds so simple, right? I expand a ball of light in my heart every morning and spread it throughout my body, and a few feet beyond my body. When I am struggling on communicating with others, I try to send light from my heart to theirs. For someone who is suffering, I ask for light from the higher angelic realms to be with them.

And then it’s about learning to trust our intuition, the little voices from our support team from beyond helping to nudge us toward what’s best for our souls. Many people struggle to understand which is that voice and which is the negative Ego voice. Begin practicing some form of quieting the mind (even just 1 minute a day of noticing your breath), and you will learn to discern.

In the meantime, hope you’ll join some of us for workshops, in a Facebook group of souls expanding their consciousness and connecting with each other for support in-person and virtually (just request to join Souls Gathering Together).

Wishing you courage, clarity and light in this important and unprecedented time of soul evolution,

The Forced Unplugging

IMG_4745.JPG

In Maine, as many of you know, we had a brutal wind storm that knocked out power to thousands of homes. We were lucky to go unaffected, save from the absence of internet. But aside from some minor inconveniences, I found it to be a welcome respite from technology.

Even though times like this are challenging, the opportunity to pause can be like a breath of fresh air. A forced unplugging from the universe. With people coming together to support one another, connecting over our shared experience, one can’t help but notice the good that can come out of struggle. The wheel stops spinning for a moment. People can’t work with no internet or power, so they get sent home. Emails can’t get sent, Facebook posts can’t get posted. And we panic at first a bit…and then we relax.

We are removed from the cycle of work and internet and going and doing, not by choice but by circumstance. Then what do we do? Do we resist? Do we spend all day driving around trying to find a place to check our email? Or do we let go.. and enjoy the time to just be with ourselves, to be with our loved ones… to talk for a change, to go for a walk, to meditate, to reflect, to cook, to make.

I have been cooking a lot from scratch recently, a cake for my son’s birthday, carrot-apple-turmeric muffins for his school snack, roasted butternut squash for a potluck gathering, peanut butter and raisin rice cakes for a school event. It has taken some time but it is a labor of love. My children help with the food prep, and we bond over creating something beautiful and tasty together to share with family and friends. We are using the food grown right near our home (the apples from our apple tree, the squash from the farm across town).

Still, I have been mourning the end of the growing season and my ability to grow my own vegetables from my backyard garden. But I have found a renewed calling in learning how to make things with my hands in these colder months. I “made” my son’s mummy Halloween costume with strips of an old pillowcase, a shirt, sweatpants and a hot glue gun. It took me over an hour but I felt proud of what I had accomplished. My son knew that it was special too, made with love by his mother. So much more meaningful than if I’d had it shipped online (which is what I usually do). And I give thanks for the community of parents and teachers we have found in the loving, peaceful school that of our son’s that is rooted in spiritual, simplicity of Quakers.  A place that is supportive and encourages our desire to live more minimally, more in harmony with the Earth and with like-minded people.

The expansion that I am experiencing and that we are all experiencing is one based on feeling, based on what we feel pulled, or guided, to do. Not what makes sense or seems rational. It is the push and pull between the Higher Self and that of the Ego. Our longing to lie on the Earth and to wander in the woods, to explore and to wonder, to build and to mold, to delight and to discover… these are our inherent qualities that we have forgotten, that we have been trained to ignore.

The time is now here for a shifting.

The Earth shaking off the imbalance and adjusting to the damage that's been done. The Earth is changing but I believe it will still survive… by adapting. And we are adapting too. We must still do more to heal what we have done to the Earth, but we are getting there. We are re-discovering our essence, our feeling of oneness with the natural world. Our understanding that we co-exist together with the trees, and the wind and the soil, and the squirrels, birds and butterflies. That when they are damaged, we are damaged. That when we pollute the Earth, we also are polluting our own selves.

There are those of us who are choosing to answer this inner longing, this pull. There are some who are noticing this urge, but are hoping it will go away… But it’s going to get harder to ignore as the energies accelerate.

This is what will save our human race and our planet. We will learn to grow in these uncharted waters together (and there is a community of like-minded souls you're welcome to explore!) with the assistance of the light, our Divine guides (and here's a video on how to connect with them!) and our spiritual power that lies within. May it be so for us all.
