Transitions and Letting Go

Dear strong souls,

This weekend, one of our hens passed on. She had been dealing with an egg tract infection for months. When I took her to our vet (yes, chicken vets do exist), he had suggested putting her to sleep. While I wanted to do what I could to ease her suffering, something told me to let her stay at home. In her last few days, she lay in the nesting box all day and night. We brought her water and food (including some cantaloupe, apples and strawberries). On her last day, she kept her eyes closed and her breathing got heavy. I prayed to the angels (Archangel Raphael and Ariel in particular) to help her passing be painless, rapid and smooth. (We were supposed to go out that evening, and I really didn’t want our babysitter to have to deal with a dead chicken.)

That afternoon, I went for a walk while talking to my sister on the phone. As I was coming back from the walk, I approached the yard and heard Arran’s voice in my head saying “Booster’s dead” (he had named her Booster - she used to speed around the yard). As I saw Arran approaching the nesting box, he opened it, walked over to me and said those exact words. He and I have always had a telepathic connection, but this was fascinating.

We carried her to the area near the daffodils where we had buried other chickens. We found a large rock and painted her name on the rock after a short ceremony to honor her life.

It was all very beautiful. She was able to cross over in her own home, near her sisters, and peacefully. She chose to exit her body at a perfect time. While we were sad (we treat our chickens like pets), I was so grateful that she was able to transition in this way.

Many of us have been brought closer to the death in the past few years, and particularly in the past few months. Many of our pets have chosen to cross over, and of course our human loved ones as well.

Although we are sad when those we love leave us, can we learn to view death actually as a release - a return to our home in the spirit world?

Why can’t we honor and even celebrate life, rather than mourn? In our society, we are often taught to fear death.

In the past life regressions I have done, as the client re-experiences that past-life death, the moment the soul leaves the body is a moment of freedom, relief and peace.

We return to the Source. We return to our true homes.

In the Tarot, the Death card is not a bad card.

Death signifies the ending of a cycle, which inevitably leads to the beginning of a new one, to a rebirth.

When we leave our physical bodies, we are reborn into Spirit, into a realm of pure, unconditional love and healing light. Having experienced this myself in a life-between-regression, it is an unforgettable experience. Dropping into the spirit realm brings great comfort of what lies beyond this temporary play (the human experience) that we are all acting in right now (and we have all volunteered for this in our challenging Earth school).

When we tell our loved ones that it’s okay for them to go on their last days of this life, it can be deeply liberating for that soul to cross over. We are releasing them from our need to have them stay with us (which is ultimately a selfless act for us to energetically let them go).

I recently did this regarding relationships with a few friends from my past. For some time now, I had some lingering feelings of anger of being unjustly treated by them (in line with the “cancel” culture). I decided I was going to summon what came up in a past life re-write (where I energetically changed the traumatic scene to a positive one). I would tell these former friends that I did nothing wrong and I felt hurt by their actions. So I wrote the emails and let them sit for a few days.

But I never sent them.

The simple act of just expressing my feelings and releasing them into the ether was all I needed.

It was an energetic release, the closure I personally needed to end the relationships but also to express myself. While these people's human selves may never know how I really feel at some level, I would like to believe that their Higher Selves received the message in a loving way.

(You can do something like this too - check out my Tools for the Awakening Soul: A Guide to Activate Your Intuition and Uncover Your Life’s Purpose book for a similar exercise called the Hidden Stories, where you write a “pretend” goodbye letter to someone you feel wronged by).

For me, the release of what I had been clinging to happened at the same time that our hen was released from her body.

There was an energetic shifting that occurred that day (and it was the day before Mercury in retrograde ended as well).

I hope that you experience a shifting of whatever has been heavy on your mind and heart as well.
